WiFi Canary ("the app") is an internet connectivity monitor for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. Your privacy matters — here's exactly what happens with your data.
Nothing. WiFi Canary does not collect, transmit, or store any user data on our servers. The app runs entirely on your device.
If you have iCloud enabled, the app syncs connectivity events, speed test results, daily statistics, and settings across your devices via Apple's CloudKit and Key-Value Store. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us.
The app periodically sends small HTTP HEAD requests to public endpoints (e.g., google.com, apple.com, cloudflare.com) to measure connectivity and latency. These are standard web requests — no personal data is included.
When enabled, the app uses Bonjour (local network only) to find other WiFi Canary instances on your LAN. Peer data (connectivity state, latency) is shared only within your local network and never transmitted to the internet.
All notifications are generated locally on your device. No data is sent to any push notification service.
Go to Settings > Data > Clear All Data to permanently delete all events, probe results, and statistics. Since we don't store anything on our servers, there's nothing else to delete.
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at this URL.
